“I call this the 100-year building. It will still be here in 100 years.”

– Bill Jorgensen, Williamson County Public Safety Director

After the devastation of the May 2010 Floods, Williamson County made the construction of a building capable of handling future emergencies and protecting the community a priority. The Williamson County Public Safety Task Force made up of County Government Officials, partner agencies, and private industry met for over a year and recommended that a mission driven facility be constructed to address the public safety needs of the fast growing community.

The Parent Company was selected as the Construction Manager in April 2013. After the Task Force’s extensive planning and touring of different facilities around the Southeast, Williamson County broke ground on the Public Safety Center in June of 2014, and the facility was completed in January of 2016.

The Public Safety Center fulfilled six critical needs for Williamson County: an Emergency Operations Center, Emergency Communications Center, training space, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and administrative space for the Office of Public Safety. The EOC features a 30’x10’ situational awareness video wall and 105 stations for Emergency Managers and other agencies to work during a significant event or disaster. The ECC has 22 consoles for 911 dispatchers and call takers with growth space for 35. Other features of the Center include a structure that can sustain 250 mph winds, bays for storage of specialized vehicles, and administrative offices for a variety of agencies that would need to work together in the event of a county-wide emergency.
