“We think it will be a great urban addition to that corner, a good neighbor to the Hutton Hotel and a new landmark on West End”

– David Bailey, Hastings Architecture Associates

Renasant Bank’s market share in Tennessee is growing and their existing West End branch was inadequate. Renasant Bank decided to demolish the existing facility and build a new Tennessee Headquarters.

Renasant Bank wanted to keep the branch running and serving their customers during construction. The Parent Company created a plan to put a temporary bank trailer on the back half of the future parking lot to phase the finishing of the parking lot until after that branch had moved into the new building. This required coordination with both the banking operation managers and the Metro Codes Department. The building had to have a temporary Use & Occupancy permit issued contingent on the completion of the parking lot within 30 days.

Renasant Bank also wanted to be mindful of the impact construction would have on their neighbors. The Parent Company developed a blasting plan, blasting schedule and notification protocols to insure safe operations as well as to minimize impact to the adjacent Hutton Hotel and their guests. Several coordination meetings with the Hutton were conducted to incorporate their needs and access during construction.

Material was scheduled to deliver just in time to minimize the lay down space needed initially. Once the structure went up, TPC utilized the lower level parking structure as a construction office and material storage facility.

  • Active Branch The branch bank had to stay in operation throughout construction. The Parent Company communicated clearly and regularly with banking operation managers to insure the safety of bank employees and customers.
  • Blasting The building had an underground parking structure which required the blasting of rock sub-grade within feet of the adjacent property owner’s lot lines. The Parent Company developed a blasting plan, blasting schedule and notification protocols to insure safe operations for Renasant and its neighbors.
  • Tight Site The building was built almost property line to property line in addition to busy public roadways on 3 sides and the Hutton hotel on the 4th side. This meant there was very little space for material delivery or storage. As a solution, material was scheduled to deliver just in time to minimize the lay down space needed initially. Once the structure went up, TPC utilized the lower level parking structure as a construction office and material storage facility.
