Austin Peay State University’s Hemlock Semiconductor Building was built to house APSU’s Chemical Engineering Technology associate degree program. The Parent Company was awarded the project in August of 2009 by Tennessee Board of Regents. In June of 2010 the 20,000 SF project was substantially complete. We worked with TBR and the designers during pre-construction to establish workable schedules and budgets. The CM/GC project was completed one month ahead of schedule and stands as a great example of this delivery system’s advantages. The Hemlock Semiconductor Building included the construction of lab stations that demonstrate manufacturing functions, classrooms, solar panels to supplement the building’s energy supply, and a sundial clock.“The quality of leadership, workmanship, and followership was second to none and we are both grateful and humbled to have such a top quality team on this project.”

- Constructability Reviews During the DD level constructability review, The Parent Company noticed that an optional sundial tower structure was part of the passive solar shade structure, which was not an alternate. TPC recommended the separation of the two structures to allow the sundial tower to be built independently of the rest of the building. In addition, TPC recommended that the foundations for the sundial tower be included in the base design so that re-excavation of the base area could be avoided when the sun dial tower was added in the future.
